2011
Gentlemen, Start Your Engines!
One of our most prolific years in history, to the point where somehow we were making a picture every Saturday, or every two saturdays. It is easy to imagine we were going mad with power at that point. That Femme Tails picture was somehow a giant success and the presure was on to keep doing more, better, to go where nobody ever went before...
Pixel art, Drawings, Youtube Poops, YTPMV's. Modding. Everything was fair game. Truly an ambitious year for someone with a lot to lose.
Due to a castrophic event in the end of 2013, most of the artwork prior to that date has been lost. Specially the pixel art. For as many images as possible, the files have been recovered from conversations and uploads to an old image hoster. They will be presented as-is.
This page is merely but a fraction of our work during this year.
"Finished" Artwork
Staring Into The Sunset
First instance of a picture made by ourselves that survived through the whole pipeline
Part of a soft trilogy of pictures with consistant look-and-feel and overarching themes. An exploration of personal feelings and longing. For what? That will be left an exercise to the viewer.
A Blushy Lady
A simple drawover trying to find out a differentiating design.
Project files indicate this has been a draw-over from a picture by someone going by the name Amira in 2009. This image features several edits to the source material, like editing the shoes lightly, but specially removing the wide band that would make amy's dress inmediately identifiable. In retrospect, this was a very disrespectful edit, considering everything. Wherever Amira is today, one can hope this did not disaude them too much from continuing drawing cute and blushy critters like this one.
Dreamy Sigh
The last on the trilogy of yearning. Alas, the original title has been lost, but it probably was "I Wish..."
Boy howdy. This image requires an interlude probably. There is so much to unpack here. But. As far as this image is concerned, Tails finally gets their wish granted. Her anguish finally led to being able to live life as she truly wants, as she truly is. But it would not be without it's consequences. After all, wishes are a fickle thing. And so begins a short but strange era.
Interlude: So what is enchanting about this realm, exactly?
Or: Not everything that glitters is gold, and your heroes are best left unmet.
Ah... TheTGArtist/TresEnElla/Transchizophrenic/Whatever Name they used for that CupHead rip-off they made. This deserves an aside.
If CyanSorcery taught us about The GIMP and how to take advantage of our tools, TheTGArtist hurt our confidence in our own linework and cemented our perchant for continuous-width vector (or vector-looking) art.
It is hard to think wether or not they were seeking any actual harm, but considering that during the brief time we knew them, they saw life as some kind of race and challenge you had to one-up one another, it would likely be either choice. As a Flash animator, they did have a preference for perfect, uniform lines, as well as several other aesthetic choices we unfortunately took to heart. One thing is to try and overstate the need to try and do long strokes using your whole arm for quick and flowing movements, the other is telling someone who practically just started that the way they were doing artwork was all kinds of wrong. Eventually, as we were sorting our lifes out, they declared themselves victor of whatever race they were only participating and left from the ether they came from, never to be seen again. (until that game made it into the news)
Here is a most of the art related to this era that has been archived. Some of the oldest drawings we made, their attempt at correcting us, and some extra practice material they did.
One real loss to this whole thing was that the doodle of Tails looking into the mirror would lead to a very cute flash dress-em-up style widget. But they removed everything when they changed names. It would be sweet if someone found a backup of that one, we miss it.
One thing that might be unsettling to some viewers is how a lot of our own art has characters with their eyes missing. It is a thing that goes quite a way back, as it was thought it would be better to add the eyes in post than trying to permanently mess them up in the drawing.
To this day we still struggle with faces, specifically eyes, a lot. It's just one of our traits as an artist. Methinks.
